Micro Blogging With Twitter
Micro Blogging With Twitter
Micro Blogging?……., I already hear some of you asking what I mean by micro blogging, and I don’t just mean really small text either;). What I want to talk about is using social media sites like Twitter.com to further promote your writing skills, and with only 140 characters of text to do it, every single letter is very important.
For those that are not too familiar with Twitter its basically an online messaging service, its almost a live chat window where you get to keep up to date with friends and family who input their latest doings in a text box and post it, this text box is where you input a max of 140 characters to tell the world about what you’re up too, this is called a Tweet in the Twitter world.
Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?
That brief note was the introduction to the Twitter website which gives you a better idea of what it’s all about.
But Why Should We Micro Blog?
Because of the size limit on the Tweet text you use within the site, it has been referred to as micro blogging. The main reason for the micro blogging tag is because a regular blog site is basically meant to be an online dairy of situations and events all about your blogging topic, so really all updates(tweets) on your Twitter page represent the same situation but only in a much shorter space.
Twitter wants to know “What Are You Doing?”.
If you write in a certain way which draws people to take notice of you, they then have the chance to follow you, which means add you to their own friends list so they get to see all your tweeted updates. Are you starting to see how this could benefit your own site/ebook/profile?, hopefully you are getting a good idea about why it would be a great choice to sign up for a free Twitter account.
Here are some other benefits of using Twitter..
- Gain friends and followers
- Increase Web Traffic
- Follow the experts in your field
- Learn from others
- Promote a product
Their is so much you can do with Twitter, for some bloggers Twitter is their number one source of traffic to their sites. As long as you use it the right way without spamming your followers with tons of links, you stand to gain great friends in Twitter, and hopefully you can then turn these friends into avid readers of your ebooks/blogs.
So use your 140 characters well by trying to write in a way that will make people want to find out more about you or your products. And remember a link here or there is not going to hurt anyone as long as it has something of value to add to your tweet, but try not to over do this by remembering that just simple conversation with people is sometimes all that’s needed to gain their trust and respect.
It’s so easy to get going with Twitter and also 100% free!, so their is no excuse not to jump on the Twitter wagon and roll your way to tweeting success.
P.S. If you do sign up your first mission is to find and follow me @edawg on Twitter. Lets see who is first, let me know by tweeting it to me;).
