Writing Articles To Promote Your Ebooks
Once you have a completed ebook and are looking to start promoting it, this may be the time to think about writing articles that will help promote your ebook. Articles are a great way to not only get the word out about your ebook, but also a stage to showcase your writing skills to anyone that reads your work.
In this post I’ll share with you some awesome article directories to start submitting your work too, and I’ll also cover why writing articles in the first place is even worth attempting.
Writing articles really is a win-win situation, if you are anything like me you may have created your own website to go along with your new ebook, so when you write an article you can use it to point a link back to your own site which helps with your search engine rankings for your site.
The other reason articles are so powerful is because you can still benefit from them even if you do not have a site. If I create an ebook and not a site to go with it, then I’ll use an article to link to a place on the web where people can buy my ebook instead, like Amazon and other websites my ebooks are listed on.
Here are a few article directories that I use all the time to get the word out about my ebooks..
Ezine Articles can be a pain in the you know what to get your article accepted into their directory, so most of the time I’ve been using ArticlesBase and GoArticles. But it does seem that Ezine Articles ranks in the search engines better than most of the others.
So What Is The Point Of Writing Articles?
The point of writing articles is to use your skills as an author to write great content that people will benefit from , if you use your article to tell the world just how great you are, then you have wasted your time, sure you might get a link back to your own website, but nobody will probably want to click on it.
Self promotion works some of the time, and to be honest on occasion it is needed to let people know your book is available. But a better way to use an article is to teach and help people by sharing your knowledge in your article, what better way to let people know how good you are as a writer than by teaching them something.
If they can learn from you in a small article, then just imagine what they would be thinking they could learn from your ebook! And that’s the best way to use your articles, share your knowledge.
As an example, after I launched The Self Publishing System I wrote an article letting people know it was available, I then used the follow up articles to teach people some of the techniques I used with my own self publishing methods, but at the same time I didn’t reveal some of the even better methods that they would learn if they purchased The Self Publishing System.
My aim with the follow up articles is to teach people just enough to get them started, and then I use a small section at the bottom of the article to promote my product, which still might seem a little self promotional, but in this case I’ve shared some great information for free before they even get to that part of my article.
So if they like what they have read, they may want to find out more about you right?
Just remember that every article is a chance for you to help even more people, and also gain more exposure for your ebooks at the same time. But here are some other reasons why writing articles is so great.
Other People Use Your Articles As Content On Their Own Sites – If somebody with a related site wants to use your article on their page they can, but they also have to keep everything just as you wrote it, including the link itself. This means that your article could spread all over the web gaining you more links to your own sites, and many more eyes on your ebooks!
It’s Completely FREE! – Most article directories are free to submit your articles in, so you get a great opportunity to get some exposure at no cost at all from you.
Ranks Well In The Search Engines – Article directories have been around for a while, so not only do they have a great page rank, but they are also considered an authority site to the search engines. This means that if you write a good article optimized for the search engines, then it has a great chance to rank well in the listings.
Make sure you write your article first and foremost for real people, not just the search engines.
